Are you on Instagram? Whether you’re using it for personal or professional use, the image-sharing network has become a popular app among individuals of all ages. In fact, more than 70 million photos and videos are shared every day.
If you’re looking for specific photos, sifting through hundreds that are pulled up by the algorithms is a difficult task. The team at Instagram saw the need to revise their Search & Explore tab to give users a much easier time when searching for popular photos within their communities.
The first major change in the Search & Explore tab is the trending tags bar. You may recognize this style from Twitter and Facebook’s Trends/Trending Bar. Now, Instagram is integrating popular hashtags and bringing the images right into your Search & Explore Tab. The inclusion of trending tags brings photos and videos to the forefront that may not have been seen unless you search for the hashtag directly. Also included within this feature are curated collections that include popular photos from various accounts.
The next change in the Search & Explore tab is the search functionality. It is now easier than ever to search for a place or topics. Simply type in the word or term and Instagram will take care of the rest. It will pull up photos using account names, hashtags and more.
Another revision to note is the organization of relevant photos and videos in the Explore section. Instead of having to go back to the Search & Explore tab to view more popular photos, you can simply scroll up or down to view the entire collection.
These changes seem like an attempt to deepen connections and develop conversations for Instagram users across the globe. With these new features, we can sit back and take a look at the world around us, with the added bonus of actually interacting with others.
