Queens Centers for Progress (QCP), an agency that provides person-centered services and support to children and adults with developmental disabilities, will honor Hilary JM Topper, MPA, of Merrick, NY and President and CEO of Long Beach based, HJMT Public Relations Inc. a full service public relations and social media marketing firm, as a “Chef of the Year” at the 24th annual “Evening of Fine Food.
The event will be held on Tuesday, March 3, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Terrace on the Park, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
“Many people don’t realize it, I worked for many years at two non-profit organizations. Both focused on helping people with either psychiatric disabilities or developmental disabilities with employment opportunities and housing in order to have a better quality of life,” said Hilary JM Topper, honoree. “When QCP asked me to be a “Chef of the Year” I was honored to turn back to my roots in the nonprofit space. I may not be a true chef, but I am looking forward to the event and helping such a worthwhile cause.”
The event will benefit more than 1,200 people each day. Funds raised will be used to further the organization’s mission of helping people with developmental disabilities lead more independent lives by augmenting the organization’s program and service budget to provide necessities that are not covered by government funding.
Hilary will be one of two “Chefs of the Year”— people who have made an impact and a difference in the community. William Donnelly, VP of Pharmacy Operations at TotalCareRX will also be recognized.
The evening will offer attendees a unique dining experience featuring the finest restaurants and beverage purveyors in the area. As guests mingle, sample gourmet foods, and enjoy an open bar, they will also be able to play casino games, participate in the silent auction and take “selfies” in a photo booth.
Adding to the excitement of the evening will be appearances by John Luke of A & E’s Storage Wars, and Special Guest Chef, Gerry Cooney, World-Class Heavyweight Boxer.
